A Decade in Review

IT’S PLANNING DAYYYYYYYY!!!!

Arguably my favorite day of the year, I sit on the studio floor with my whiteboard, my planners and my many random notes and biz ideas I’ve accumulated throughout the past 12 months spread around me. I decide what I want to focus on in the coming year, and prioritize the pile of things from there.

This year, however, is the end of an entire decade and requires a little more depth. I busted out my planners for the past 5 years, scrolled photo albums to jog the memory, and settled in with a pen and paper to do the brain dump. Ten years holds a lot. Most of us are completely different people and in vastly different places than we were a decade ago.

What have I accomplished, survived, moved through, learned… what are my favorite memories, my lowest moments? What am I proud of? What lessons are most important? Why? What do I want to accomplish, be and create? What skills and traits are necessary to make those goals reality?

Marie Forleo created an excellent trio of videos walking us through our last decade – I highly recommend it. It pulled a lot out of the recesses of my mind that I may not have remembered otherwise, and helped me pinpoint the most important and impactful learnings of the decade – and the things I don’t want to take into the next one.

Decade In Review: How to Make Your Next 10 Years Better Than Your Last (Part 1)

I’m also very fortunate to be part of an excellent group of friends and colleagues that meet to discuss our goals, strategies for achieving them, and hold each other accountable.

Writing things down is vital, and significantly increases the probability of you reaching your goals. I’m a huge Passion Planner fan. Huge. But at the beginning of the year I was introduced to the Arc Planner – one of those customizable disc systems. When I saw that I could create/design my own pages and pop them in and out and relocate them as desired, I was sold and made my entire 2020 planner myself! I made the weekly pages exactly how I wanted, to include cycle and moon phase planning. I made goal and project planning pages, all the little inserts (planetary movements, manifesting steps, etc.) and info sheets I want, the size and artwork I want, all the things! And I can make whatever pages I want and pop them in whenever! So FUN.

I added everything I made to the store and will continue to add pages as I make them! You can punch them to fit in any style planner – check it out and let me know what kind of pages you’d love to use in YOUR planner!

So many amazing things have happened in the past ten years – I think it’s important to express gratitude. The last 4 years I’ve kept an ongoing list of awesome sh*t that happens so I can look back on it for a frequent boost of joy and energy. It’s been a great habit and addition to the yearly planning sessions. I made a list template for my planner, to track all the awesome sh*t that’s going to happen in 2020 – you can download it for your planner here!
