As I’ve moved through this healing, the concept of Return – this body of work, the book, the dress, the message – has grown to encompass so much. Once my marriage was over and I was in relationship with myself only for the first time in over a decade, I remembered that that relationship was the most important, and the core of it all – the foundation of health, happiness and truth. I wanted to commit to that. To my Self. To taking care of her first, to prioritizing her, honoring her, listening to her, thinking of her future and everything that she came here to do in this life. After being gifted with the indescribable experience of being part of the military cohort at Dreamforce 2019, I wanted to give back to this community in a meaningful way, to somehow convey my gratitude for all of this love and support and awesomeness. One of the many things I love about Trailhead is the obvious nature-loving going on, since my other jam happens to be painting all the nature! So what better way to show my love than through a piece of artwork?
Inspired by our beloved Trailhead, I give you “Gratitude”. 100% of the profits from every sale of the print of this piece will benefit Merivis, a non-profit, volunteer-driven veterans’ service organization that focuses exclusively on preparing veterans for a career in Salesforce technology, through training, mentorship, and job-readiness guidance. We’ve all got our own stories, and our own mountains behind us as well as ahead of us. Contributing to Merivis makes you a part of someone else’s story, and that creates ripples that have no limit.

Healing from emotional trauma is slow and unpredictable, with layers you don’t know exist until you’re in them. I’m still broken, the wounds are still raw. But I think I’ve got the bleeding under control now. I will still occasionally slip. Sometimes something triggers a sequence of ugly and painful thoughts and I fall down a rage spiral for a few hours. But I know enough now to recognize it and stop the momentum before it gets too dark and becomes harder to pull myself out.
